Journey with friend Doug, Ohio to W. Pennsylvania

We rode to Cleveland, Ohio and then I traveled South to visit my friend Doug.  He took me on a journey to his roots in Western Pennsylvania near the Ohio River.  These beautiful rolling hills with trees, rivers and streams seemed like an ideal place to be raised.  Here are a few views of our trip.

This historic Schoenbrunn Village is near New Philadelphia, Ohio.  This Delaware Indian mission town was founded in 1772 by missionaries of the Moravian church.  The Moravians were from a part of what is now the Czeck Republic.  They broke away from the Catholic church about 100 years before Martin Luther.  The land for the colony was given to Reverend Zeisberger by the Delaware chief, Netawatwes.  Schoenbrunn means "Beautiful Spring" in German. The mission was forced to move on in 1777.  A replica of the mission was rebuilt in 1927 and volunteers greet the visitors for a self guided tour.
