I first saw copies of this painting 53 years ago.  It itroduced me into the emotional adventures of art appreciation.

Marc Chagall's Birth, 1911/12.  This was painted whle he was living "In La Ruche", the hive.  Chagall lived there with Modigliani and other painters.  He said you either came our dead or famous.

Art Institute of Chicago Dawoud Bey's Harlem, U.S.A

These photos by Dawoud Bey in 1979 were made as a way to "return" to the community of his parents and family.  He writes that in taking these pictures, he became a part of the neighborhood and show the lives of the people and his feelings toward them.
