Sam Maloof's house and furniture

The house that Sam built was moved next to the mountains in Alta Loma. After his death in 2009, it became a historical landmark and museum. Docent led tours take you through his house that he built one room at a time, to a museum and by the active wood shop that will make you one of Sam designed rocking chairs for $25,000 and it will be completed in 3 to 4 years.
Jimmy and Roselyn Carter came to dinner and ate at this table.  Jimmy and Sam were fellow woodworkers and developed a mutual friendship.

  1. Dear Leo,

I just noticed the reference to your blog at the end of your email. I LOVE this blog! Congratulations on recreating a new you--or else discovering the you that's always been there but set aside to help others. How exciting--and productive--I've lived in L.A. for 32 years and never heard of Sam Maloof or his house. Now it will be on my bucket list! You are a total inspiration in your new "career!" Keep blogging--you are good!
