Thursday night at the L.A. Phil was magical with Gustavo back from his tours leading a full orchestra...two harps, 9 basses (the newest bassist is Brian Johnson from Oregon), 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, a Tuba...but no Partridge in a Pear Tree. The orchestra played Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker." The first act singing was done by 75 members of the Los Angeles Children's Chorus. The music is magical especially when played by the 100+ members of the L.A. Phil led by Gustavo Dudamel.
