I walked into Julien's auction house at 9665 Wilshire, enter on Bedford, and was blown away by the Les Paul Trio playing some of the old favorites including "Travel on to Avalon" and scores of his guitars and treasures on display. The auction will be this weekend but Julien's is open for tour and a free catalog this week.
Besides guitars, amps, microphones, mixer boards, etc. there are trophies, awards, pictures, furniture and other keep sakes of Les Paul and Mary Ford. Some of the pictures reminded me of seeing them on TV in the 50's with Les playing and Mary singing "How High the Moon" and "The World is Waiting for the Sunrise". The proceeds of the auction will go to Les Paul Foundation that encourages young people to pursue their interest in music, sound and engineering.
