Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla.

On Saturday we visited the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, in La Jolla.  It was a beautiful day and it was fun to see the interesting contemporary art.   They had a special exhibit called "Laugh-In, Art, Comedy, Performance.  Twenty artists featured in the exhibit make use of the strategies of stand-up comedy.  The program states that stand-up offers a model of audience engagement, one that not only captures attention and entertains, but that also opens onto a more direct and perhaps intimate conversation.  Most of these works were on video so I can not represent them here.

I also took pictures from their permanent exhibit.  Here is a sample of what I saw:
"About Women" 1965-1966 by John Altoon, American, 1925-1969, color lithograph

"System of iconography - Plug, Mouse, Good Humor, Lipstick, Switches," 1970 by Claes Oldenburg, American, born 1929, offset lithograph

"Untitled," 1963 by James Kelly, American, born 1913, color lithograph
