Phoenix, The Shemer Art Center

Yesterday, I roamed around the art center and gardens of the Shemer Art Center in Phoenix with my friend Sandy and joined by friend Rick.  The center is in a historic house dating from 1919.  It was turned into an art center in 1984 when it was purchased by Martha Shemer and donated to the city of Phoenix to provide arts education and a gallery for the local citizens.

The 3 acre property is located on Camelback Road just below the famous Camelback Mountains.  There are several sculptures in the garden plus a display of Micro Dwellings designed and built by local crafts folks.  Here is a bit of what we saw inside and out:

"Underbelly," by Jane Kelsey-Mapel

"Innergy," by Jane Kelsey-Mapel

"Fruit Landscape" by Helen Norsigian Rowles
