Sights at the Living Desert

We roamed around the Living Desert In Palm Desert, CA. and enjoyed the desert plants and animals from around the world.

They also have an impressive gallery of paintings of California.

Here is a sample of what I saw.

Art in La Quinta

While vacationing in the California desert we enjoyed the many offerings in the city of La Quinta.  We enjoyed roaming around the Main Street art festival  on Sunday and then having a few sips while watching NCAA Mens March Madness at Clint Eastwood's Hog's Breath Tavern.

Below are a few pictures of the art scene in La Quinta.

First are two paintings by Erin Hanson who paints oil landscapes of Nevada, Utah and Arizona.  Her use of color is striking and beautiful   Her work can be seen on line at www.erinhanson.com and at an art festival near you perhaps.

The next artist's name escaped me, but I loved his bronze sculpture of "The Poet."

The next work is from Ric and Tim Vigallon from Joshua Tree, CA.  They create "3d Metal Art in America."    I particularly like their work of a Road Runner and cactus.

I included two pictures of the scene including musicians under umbrellas serenading everyone.

There are three pictures of Native American Bronze Sculptures by Marie Barbera that I enjoyed.

Next is a bronze sculpture that rotates on a steel base by Marv Poulson, "Imagedancer" from Salt Lake City.

Finally you will recognize a Clint Eastwood mural in his establishment.

Just for fun, I have included two pictures of the 1926 La Quinta Inn where we imbibed the next day.

"Tis a beautiful place.

Desert Botanical Gardens and Dale Chihuly Glass Sculptures

Sandy, Tim and I had a wonderful time at the Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens on Friday and enjoyed the beautiful Dale Chihuly glass sculptures that we enjoyed in before and after the beautiful sunset.  Enjoy the pictures of the spring wild flowers, flowering cacti, and the glass creations:
